![]() ![]() The source code for this post is available at. At the same time, though, this post only covers building for 64-bit Windows, as it’s the only platform I’ve tested at the moment. WDL includes a Visual Studio solution for loose_eel, but I’ll show how to use CMake here as it’s shorter and potentially easier to port to other platforms than the Visual Studio solution. The program I’ll use in this post compiles and runs a “hello world” EEL2 program, and is based off loose_eel.cpp in WDL. (By the way, I just learned about iPlug 2, which uses WDL, as I was writing this – make sure to check it out!) There doesn’t appear to be much documentation for WDL online, unfortunately (though there is a WDL forum here!), so my hope with this post is to help with some of the hurdles I had when building EEL2 for the first time. I’ll conclude with a few neat things I learned about EEL2 by looking at the compiler. WDL might also be useful for developers looking for a lower-level look into JSFX. For instance, one could use JSFX scripts in a standalone FX system or create new versions of VSTs using JSFX. WDL is open source, and is intended to allow JSFX and EEL2 to be integrated into programs other than REAPER. In this post, I’ll outline how to build Cockos’ EEL2 compiler, which is a part of of their WDL library. Thank you.REAPER’s JSFX scripts are written in the EEL2 programming language. This particular guitar is PERFECT for what I want to use it for, so I really want to figure out how I can record it. I would prefer to keep the discussion related to Reaper, but if anyone has any suggestions that could potentially allow me to get some positive results in FL Studio, I would gladly accept those, too. I got that "click" sound the first time I hit a key and then there was no sound after that. I even downloaded a free trial version of FL Studio and the same exact thing happened. I was able to record and render every sound I wanted to until I tried to do it with the Elektrik Guitar doesn't make much sense to me. I haven't tried anything more complex than that and I've used the exact process I detailed above every single time. I've just been recording one sound on one track at a time and then rendering the file so I can imported it into Audacity. The weird thing about it is that all of the other instruments I've tried in Kontakt, and the ones I've tried in Massive and Absynth, have worked perfectly fine. The mixing bar or whatever that thing is off to the left on the Reaper window labeled "Master" spikes up as soon as the click sound is generated and it stays there until I exit out of Reaper. After that initial click, I can't get any sound to play at all. The same thing happens when I click one of the keys on the keyboard that shows up in Kontakt. Instead, I hear some type of click sound with some reverb to it (more or less reverb depending on which venue I have selected (Cathedral, Concert Hall, Room, etc.). However, when I play a note, the guitar sound doesn't play. I have a CME Xkey MIDI keyboard hooked up to my laptop and I've never had any problem connecting it to Kontakt or Reaper. I then find the "Elektrik Guitar" instrument in Kontakt and select it.ġ0. Then, a dialogue box pops up saying that the output configuration was saved as the default and I click "Ok."ĩ. surr.1 " for the soundcard/host output, leave the ascending output assignment box checked, and then check the other two boxes. I keep the quantity at 1, set the number of channels to 8, select "Kt. I click "Outputs" and then "Add Channels."ħ. Then, the "Kontakt 5 (圆4 bridged)" window pops up.Ħ. A dialogue box labeled "Build Routing Confirmation" pops up. VSTi: Kontakt 5 (圆4) (Native Instruments GmbH) (16 out) > OKĤ. Insert > Virtual instrument on new trackģ. Here's how I hooked up Reaper with Kontakt 5 (I'm not sure I did everything correctly, so it could be part of the problem):Ģ. I then downloaded a 30 day free trial of Reaper to use as a host program to record sounds from the Komplete 10 library. I recently purchased Native Instruments Komplete 10 and everything installed properly. ![]()
